Set Menus

Set Menus - last night at dinner a hot topic (i.e. an opportunity for a rant from moi meme) was paltry, desultory resturant offerings under this heading. For the avoidance of doubt, the set menu at Le Cafe Anglais last night was...

Tuesday 24th March

£20.00/25.00 for two or three courses
£30.00/35.00 for two or three courses with half a bottle of wine

Cream of Fennel and Celeriac Soup, Tapenade Toasts

Octopus Salad with Fennel, Lemon and Chilli

Assiette de Porc with Toast and Pumpkin Chutney


Swiss Chard, Beets and Potatoes with Salsa Verde

Roast Hake with Leeks, Herbs and White Wine

Breast of Duck with Chicory and Orange


Poached Rhubarb with Yoghourt Cake

Toasted Brioche with Blood Orange Curd

Duckett’s Caerphilly with Endives and Pears

The lunch menu (Table d’Hôte) is similar but at £16.50/£19.50 for two/three courses.

Also worth mentioning is the Plat du Jour, fully garished at £10. Today it's Rabbit Stew with Cider and Onions, Creamed Potatoes.
